I am extremely proud to be a Trust Appointed Governor at Goosewell Academy. I have three children, two of whom are currently at Goosewell, with my third having left last year to move onto Secondary School. I qualified as a Primary Teacher in 1998 and have specialised in Early Years Education for the past 14 years; I am currently a member of the Senior Leadership Team of a Primary Multi Academy Trust, where I am responsible for School Improvement and the professional development of teachers. My passion is for education; I believe that every child should be inspired to learn by an exciting, innovative and challenging curriculum whilst receiving the very best experience that each and every one of them deserves.

I am looking forward to working with the amazingly dedicated staff and children of Goosewell Academy.

Mrs Rebecca Ellerker

Co-opted Governor

Term: 10/11/2020 - 10/11/2024
Responsibility: Safeguarding, SEND and Behaviours and Attitudes
Attendance 2023-24: 0/2
Register of Interest: Child at Goosewell

It is a great privilege to become a Co-Opted Governor at Goosewell Academy. I have two children currently at Goosewell and I have been fortunate to see how they have both been supported and encouraged with their developing education since they started school. I am a Secondary Teacher with a specialism in Modern Foreign Languages and have been Head of Faculty at a large school in Plymouth. I now work to advise and support those who are considering a career in teaching, working at both Primary and Secondary phases. I am firm in my belief that all children should have a positive experience of school. Children need to be supported to thrive at a level that challenges them as individuals and, importantly, they should enjoy their education; both are key to our children developing lifelong skills for learning and success. This is only possible with a dedicated school community of staff, children and families, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this at Goosewell Academy.

Mrs Elizabeth Dillon

Parent Governor

Term: 25/05/2022 - 25/05/2026
Responsibility:  Quality of Education
Attendance 2023-24: 1/2
Registered Interests: Child at Goosewell Primary Academy

I am a mother to two children at Goosewell. One in year 5, and one in year 1. I have lived in Plymstock for 7 years and in Plymouth for 19 years, moving here to work for a global engineering company. Although my job has changed over the years, I've made Plymouth my home. Having a background in science and engineering, I am keen to support Goosewell in the provision of STEM subjects to all students. I believe in educational equity and I hope my role as parent governor continues Goosewell's good progress in fairness and inclusion.

Mrs Tessa Hewins

Parent Governor

Term: 25/05/2022 - 25/05/2026
Responsibility:  Early Years
Attendance 2023-24: 2/2

Registered Interests: Child at Goosewell Primary Academy
My role is that of parent governor at Goosewell Academy, with a focus on Early Years provision. I am an Armed Forces wife, and as well as having three children (one yet to start school, one currently in year 4, and one in year 8 who left Goosewell in 2022), professionally I have 15 years worth of teaching experience to utilise within my role.

Becoming a member of the governing body has enabled me to use my knowledge and skills to support the school and the wider community, by making decisions within different areas of the school in various meetings.

I feel my children have been well supported at Goosewell, both academically and also socially and emotionally by the dedicated members of staff here.
