This term Year 5 are learning about:
World War II


Who will support my learning?

Teachers: 5L- Mr Leader, 5DH- Mrs Dowling (Tues- Friday ) and Mrs Hayman (Mon), 5MT- Mrs Milford (Tues- Friday) and Mrs Thorne (Mon).

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Ponsford, Mrs Vaughan, Mrs Hooper, Mrs Holden and Mrs Lagor.

Activities Afternoon: Mrs Vaughan, Mrs Piper, Mrs Ponsford, Mrs Lewis, Mrs Hooper, Mrs Holden, Mr Hele and Mrs Crockett

When will my homework be set / due in?

Homework is linked to a range of curriculum areas. It is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday. Children will be given a homework folder in which to keep the tasks. Spellings are also set on a Friday and the children will be tested the following Friday. Children will be provided with a Spelling Book which they MUST bring into school every Friday. We expect all of the children in Year 5 to read regularly at home. We encourage parents to listen to their children read and assist them with completing their Reading Record.

  • Explorer Dome- A Space Tour
Term 3 and 4
  • Clive Pig, The Story Teller - Ancient Egyptian Drama Day.
Term 5 and 6
  • WW2 Evacuation to Buckfastleigh.
  • WW2 Day/Tea Dance.

When do I need my kit?
  • PE Kit – Sessions will be Wednesday for 5MT and Tuesday 5L and 5DH.
  • Games Kit – Friday
Please ensure all kit is named.

What else so I need to know about Year 5?
  • I need a handwriting pen with my name on. These can be purchased from the office.
  • I will need my daily fruit and water bottle.
  • You will be reading every day in school, so remember to bring your reading books.
