I am extremely proud to have recently become a Co-Opted Governor at Goosewell Academy. I have three children, two of whom are currently at Goosewell, with my third having left last year to move onto Secondary School. I qualified as a Primary Teacher in 1998 and have specialised in Early Years Education for the past 14 years; I am currently a member of the Senior Leadership Team of a Primary Multi Academy Trust, where I am responsible for School Improvement and the professional development of teachers. My passion is for education; I believe that every child should be inspired to learn by an exciting, innovative and challenging curriculum whilst receiving the very best experience that each and every one of them deserves.

I am looking forward to working with the amazingly dedicated staff and children of Goosewell Academy.

It is a great privilege to become a Co-Opted Governor at Goosewell Academy. I have two children currently at Goosewell and I have been fortunate to see how they have both been supported and encouraged with their developing education since they started school. I am a Secondary Teacher with a specialism in Modern Foreign Languages and have been Head of Faculty at a large school in Plymouth. I now work to advise and support those who are considering a career in teaching, working at both Primary and Secondary phases. I am firm in my belief that all children should have a positive experience of school. Children need to be supported to thrive at a level that challenges them as individuals and, importantly, they should enjoy their education; both are key to our children developing lifelong skills for learning and success. This is only possible with a dedicated school community of staff, children and families, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this at Goosewell Academy.

I am a mother to two children at Goosewell. One in year 4, and one just starting their learning journey in Reception.  I have lived in Plymstock for 6 years and in Plymouth for 17 years, moving here to work for a global engineering company. Although my job has changed over the years, I've made Plymouth my home. Having a background in science and engineering, I am keen to support Goosewell in the provision of STEM subjects to all students. I believe in educational equity and I hope my role as parent governor continues Goosewell's good progress in fairness and inclusion.

I am delighted to have recently become a parent governor at Goosewell Academy. I am an Armed Forces wife, and as well as having three children (one yet to start school, one currently in year 3, and one in year 7 who left Goosewell last year), professionally I have 15 years worth of teaching experience to utilise within my new role.

Becoming a member of the governing body will enable me to use my knowledge and skills to support the school and the wider community.

Ever since my children started at Goosewell, I have been impressed by the dedication of the staff in the support both academically and also socially and emotionally for them.

I am looking forward to joining the governors team in their journey to further develop on the continued success at Goosewell Academy.

I have been a member of staff at Goosewell since 2008 in the role as Parent Support Adviser and have had the pleasure of working with many of our children and their families.
I am passionate about the wellbeing of Goosewell’s pupils and their families, I believe in a holistic and compassionate approach to promote positive wellbeing within our school community. I feel that by working together we can all make a difference for our pupils, families and community.
My wish as a member of staff and as a parent is for all children to thrive, grow, learn and to have as many opportunities as possible to allow them to become well rounded, happy young adults ready for the next stages in life.
